COURSE IN SECTIONAL TITLE LIVING – THE NUTS AND BOLTS
The short programme is aimed at owners, trustees and occupiers of sectional title schemes. The content covers the meaning of sectional title ownership, how a sectional title scheme is created, the management of a sectional title scheme, the rights and obligations of owners in a sectional title scheme, the operation of the Community Schemes Ombud Service as well as other miscellaneous relevant topics. After completion of the programme the owner, trustee or occupier will have a clear understanding of what it implies to live in a sectional title scheme and why management of the scheme is so important.
COURSE IN PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT
NAMA’s vision is to professionalise the industry through training and qualifications. Creating a profession will benefit the industry by ensuring that individuals have a certain level of knowledge specific to their role. This will lift industry standards and enhance service levels thereby ensuring consumer and industry protection. Professionalisation will create a career path and a profession for Community Scheme Managers in the industry or those wanting to enter the industry. To this effect, NAMA has entered into an agreement with the University of Pretoria (the Department of Construction Economics) and Enterprises University of Pretoria, as a training partner. Three designations and levels of training have been identified and these link to the successful completion of a course and other practical experience. The 3 designations that link to the 3-year course are as follows:
- Level 1 training: Community Scheme Portfolio Manager
- Level 2 training: Senior Community Scheme Portfolio Manager
- Level 3 training: Professional Community Scheme Portfolio Manager
The content has been compiled by the University of Pretoria with industry experts providing input to certain modules. The courses are fully online and can be completed in one’s own time within a 12-month period. NAMA is in the process of registering as a professional body in order to get the training programmes SAQA accredited.
